Great BC shots, linked to the spot

A simple photo section for visitor shots: each photo gets a city, place name and anchor link, so a hotel/venue listing can point to its photos and the photo can point back to the hotel, city guide or official page.

How photo linking works

  • Each place gets a simple slug, like sylvia-hotel.
  • The photo wall has an anchor: /photos.html#sylvia-hotel.
  • Hotel, restaurant, market and venue listings can add a small “photos” link to that anchor.
  • Future backend: approved uploads can auto-tag by city/place and feed both the photo wall and the listing page.

Keep it simple

No complicated app needed for launch. Start with curated photos, place anchors and a submission form. Later we can add real uploads, moderation, EXIF stripping, accounts and searchable galleries.

Add your shot

Send a BC city photo, hotel/venue/market name, caption, photographer credit and rights confirmation. For now this form previews locally only; real public upload/publishing needs an admin backend.

Prototype only: this does not publish publicly yet.

Future “photo tied to spot” upgrade

When a backend is added, each photo can store: city, place slug, official place URL, photographer, caption, tags and approval status. Then every hotel/venue page can pull matching approved photos automatically.

Original BCTonight city video feel

The homepage now uses a slow Ken Burns-style Vancouver skyline loop from the recovered BCTonight image. If we find the original timelapse video file later, it can replace the animated image without changing the site structure.
